“The severity of these diseases, especially late blight, can cause crop losses of up to 100% if fungicides are not applied regularly. As a result, seed and table producers will incur large financial losses, while household growers, who do not always have the resources to purchase fungicides, could become food insecure if their crops fail. A solution for household growers is to grow cultivars with good tolerance to late blight.”
